Biofuel Feedstock Genomics Resource

The Biofuel Feedstock Genomics Resource (BFGR) is a USDA/DOE funded project that provides uniform annotation of gene and transcript assembly sequences for a wide variety of model genome and lignocellulosic biofuel crop species. The bioinformatic tools within BFGR will be of use to researchers who are studying plants that are important for lignocellulosic biofuel production.

Using our search page, annotation for a particular sequence can be found using BLAST alignments, sequence identifiers or functional annotation keywords. Users may also search for sequences in our model genome-based genome browsers. Small sequence repeats (SSRs) and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) from particular species can be found using our search page.

Currently, sequence data from 23 model genome and lignocellulosic biofuel feedstock species have been analyzed and annotated.

Arabidopsis thaliana Oryza sativa Sorghum propinquum
Brachypodium distachyon Panicum virgatum Sorghum bicolor
Cenchrus ciliaris Picea glauca Triticum aestivum
Helianthus annuus Picea sitchensis Triticum monococcum
Hordeum vulgare Pinus taeda Triticum turgidum subsp. durum
Leymus cinereus x Leymus triticoides Populus tremula x Populus tremuloides Zea mays
Medicago sativa Populus trichocarpa Vitis vinifera
Medicago truncatula Secale cereale

BFGR is maintained and hosted by the Buell Lab in the Plant Biology Department at Michigan State University.

What's New

17 July 2009

A Quick Annotation Search form has been added to the BFGR home page. The BLAST form has been moved to the unified search page. Links to the Annotation Report Pages should load more quickly. Also, links to Germplasm Resources have been added to the Species Overview pages.

See the What's New page for more information.
